On a cold January evening Air Cadets from all over the London were joined by representatives of the Jack Petchey Foundation to help celebrate their outstanding achievements during the course of 2009.

The Jack Petchey Foundation has been a long standing supporter of Youth Groups in London since its creation in 1999. The charity helps to contribute financially to projects and activities such as those offered by the London Wing of the Air Training Corps so that young people can achieve their potential and contribute to society.

The Foundation was formed by Jack Petchey OBE. A successful and extremely generous businessman who started off his life in London’s East End. During the course of the last 10 years, Jack’s generosity has resulted in over £65 million pounds being given to charitable projects, including the Air Cadets.

The cadets are nominated for the Jack Petchey Young Achiever Awards by other members of their Squadron’s. The reasons for nominations can be from a particular achievement by a individual Cadet or involvement in a particular event, such as being involved in helping in a community project as well as individual examples of excellence.

I am very proud of the Cadets here today. As with all Air Cadets, they are Achievers!”
